I do believe that humans have basic instinct “interact and work as a group.” It is done all the time in jobs, schools and homes. Things would not get done if people did not work together. The main problem will be who is going to be in charge and what makes them qualified to be a leader.
Technology facilitate collaboration among learners based on constructivist principles through the Internet because they make connections and meaning in the learning process. Knowledge of constructivist is promoted. Encouragement of self-critical analysis, self-directed learning and collaborative learning expand environments which knowledge is constructed. The collaboration process links individuals together that share common goals and interest facilitated through technology (Brown, 2005).

ReplyDeleteCollaboration is definitely needed in the workplace as well in the classroom. I think it is an excellent idea to assign a group assignment to students so they are prepared for life in the work place. Since the world has so many advanced technology tools such as google docs, skype and elluminate, there is no need to have a conference call.
ReplyDeleteI am noticing that when I watch CNN news commenators and group discussions , people are twittering and blogging back and forth concerning issues that are being presented, regarding the state of the union; (the unfortunate conditions plaguing our nation today). New groups are being formed every day; such as the Tea Party and the Coffee Party(which seems to have common goals)with cries of dissatisfaction with political issues such as too many taxes, unemployment, and the state of the economy. I believe too, that coming together in group is instinctive, through group interaction, human being gather more information, whether it is correct or incorrect. Throughout human development we will find that group dynamics have been the cornerstone for change. Civil rights, anti-war, women suffrage, ecology (the green movement), and animal rights movement have been major catalyst for change. The internet (blogging, twittering, and facebook) and multimedia technology have generated high-speed information channels and people are getting information at a rapid pace. In terms of the constructivist theory of how people learn, self-critical analysis, self-directed learning and the collaborative learning aspect of the theory is taking place every second of the day'
